Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi.
On arrival at IGIA you will be met and greeted by our representative and will escort you to your hotel, easiest you to check in at hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 02: Delhi to Amritsar.
As per the train time transfer to railway station to board train to Amritsar; which is around 6 hrs. journey, on arrival pick up and transfer to hotel, check in at hotel after wash and change visit the city, overnight stay at hotel in Amritsar.
Amritsar translates(pool of nectar) the name of the sacred pool surrounding the Golden Temple. A causeway connects to the temple in the middle of the pool. A Sikh high priest reads the holy book, sitting on the east side of the temple. The temple attracts pilgrims from all over the world.
Wagha Borderis the Indo-Pakistan border which is 30 kms drive, where the retreat ceremony on the road to Lahore is an interesting experience at Sunset.

 

Day 03: Amritsar to Dharamshala, 190 kms, 6 hours’ drive.
Drive to Dharamshala, on the way stop for lunch, on arrival at Dharamshala check in at hotel and in the evening visit the market, overnight stay at hotel in Dharamshala.

 

Day 04: Visit Dharamshala (1830 m).
A former colonial retreat, Mcleodganj rose to prominence after the large scale exodus of Tibetans from their homeland in 1959. It is the residence (Ocean of Tranquillity) of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. In the backdrop are the majestic Dhauladhar Mountains. The Tibetan Government in exile has been based here for over three and a half decades. With traditional architectural designs drawn from Tibet, the impressive Namgyal monastery is surrounded by a row of prayer wheels, and houses larger-than-life images of the Buddha: Padmasambhava and Avalokteshwara, if time permits visit the Tibetan Handicraft centre, overnight stay at hotel in Dharamshala.

 

Day 05: Dharamshala to Palampur (via Kangra), Brijeshwari Temple and Musroor rock temple.
On the way to Palampur visit the thousand-year old Brijeshwari Temple, built in Shikhara style and dedicated to the goddess Vrajreshwari. 10-minutes’ walk leading to the temple premises is decorated with colourful shops selling articles that devotees need for religious rituals to pay homage to the goddess.
Masroor has 15 temples carved into the rock in Indo-Aryan style and linked with the famous Ellora temple in Maharashtra.
Palampur is situated in the foothills of the Dhauladhar range. It has a mild climate, tea gardens and irrigation channels. The main street of Palampur is always crowded with a variety of people, including gaddis (shepherds) and their gaily attired women can be seen strolling around, evening visit Tea garden overnight stay at hotel in Palampur.

 

Day 06: Palampur to Mandi, via Baijnath - Rewalsar, 137 km.
Visit Shiva temple at Baijnath which bears an inscription dated A.D 804 and dedicated to Vaidhyanath. The temples are built in the Shikhera style and are remarkable for their proportion and architectural beauty.
Drive further to Rewalsar (Pool of Ancient Wisdom), which is like a Dark jewel on a wooded hillside. This sacred lake is identified as the sahar of yore. Legend identifies this place as the one from where Padma Sambhava left for Tibet to spread the word of the Buddha in the 8th century A.D.
Mandi is an important town of Himachal Pradesh and gateway to Kullu Valley. It is known for its aesthetically carved shikhara style temples of Bhootnath, Triloknath, Panchvakra and Shyamakali at Tarna hill, overnight stay at hotel in Mandi.

 

Day 07: Mandi to Kullu-Manali (2000 m), 90 kms.
Leave for Manali enroute we will visit Shiva temple at Bajaura. On arrival at Manali check in at hotel
Kullu-Manali is situated in the inner range of the Himalaya and is famous for apple orchards, pine trees and cheerful people. The valley has hundreds of temples and deities. The Aryans named this valley as Kulantpitha, meaning "the end of the habitable world". Visit the temple of Manu at old Manali, the hot spring at Vashisht and rest of the time will be at leisure, overnight stay at hotel in Manali.

 

Manu Temple:is believed to be the only temple of Manu in India, who is considered as the creator of the human race on earth.

Vashisht: Around 3 km from Manali, across the Beas River is Vashist, a small village with natural sulphur springs. Vaishisht also boasts a pair of old stone temples, opposite each other above the main square, dedicated to the local patron saint Vashista.

 

Day 08: Explore Manali.
Today proceed for the sightseeing of Handima Devi Temple, Jagatsukh Temple, Naggar Castle and Roerich Art gallery, rest of the day will be at leisure, overnight stay at hotel in Manali.    

 

Hadimba Temple:It is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, who was a character in the Indian epic, Mahābhārata. The temple is surrounded by a beautiful cedar forest; the structure was built in the year 1553.

Jagatsukh Temple:is one of the biggest villages in Kullu valley; it was the first capital of the erstwhile state of Kullu. Jagatsukh is famous for two ancient worth visiting temples- the Gaurishankar shrine and the temple of Goddess Sandhya Devi. Both temples are built in shikhara style. It is believed that these temples were constructed in the beginning of the 8th century.

Naggar Castle:Situated on the left bank of river Beas at an altitude of 1851m, Naggar - an ancient town commands extensive views, especially to the North West of the valley. Naggar was the former capital of Kullu. It was founded by Raja Visudhpal and continued as a headquarters of the State until the capital was transferred to Sultanpur (Kullu) by Jagat Singh in 1460 A.D. Today this ancient and beautiful Palace is a popular tourist spot. The Castle was converted into a rest house hundred years back and in 1978 this ancient building was handed over to HPTDC to run as a heritage hotel.

Roerich Art Gallery:Prof. Late Nicholas Roerich, a reputed artist had chosen Naggar as his residence when he came to India in 1929. The house has now been converted in an art gallery which houses numbers of rare paintings and other specimen of art. The gallery is open for visitors.

 

Day 09: Manali to Shimla, 250 kms/ 7 hrs. Drive).
The road passes through several villages, lunch in a local restaurant on the way. One can see the magnificent views of the Himalayan foothills. Shimla was the ancient summer capital of the British Raj, also known as queen of the hills. On arrival check in at hotel and rest of the day will be at leisure to visit around, overnight stay at hotel in Shimla.

 

Day 10: Day in Shimla.
In the morning visit the temple of Monkey God Jakhu hill. (Beware of monkeys) Visit the museum and the Vice-regal Lodge which now houses the Indian Institute of Advance Studies, overnight stay at hotel in Shimla.

Jakhu Hill:Jakhu Hill is 2 km from the Ridge, at a height of 2500 M; Jakhu Hill is the highest peak in Shimla and offers a beautiful view of the town and of the Himalayas. At the top of the Jakhu Hill, is an old temple of Hanuman, which is also the home of countless playful monkeys.

Institute of Advance Studies: Also known as Rashtrapati Niwas, it was formerly the residence of the British Viceroy Lord Dufferin, The Viceregal Estate passed into the hands of the President of India after Independence in 1947. The spectacular building was renamed 'Rashtrapati Nivas' (Presidential Residence).

 

Day 11: Shimla to Chandigarh, 150 kms / 7 hrs.
We will take the toy train for a two-hour ride to experience a legacy of colonial times. The train has been declared as a world heritage train by UNESCO and is a prime tourist attraction.
Take the zig zag road down to Chandigarh, A city designed by the famous Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Visit the Rock Garden which is an epitome of creativity and innovation. It is a unique garden that consists of various art objects. But the best part about the rock garden is that each of its artwork has been made by using industrial & urban waste and is one of the most visited sites after Taj Mahal.
Visit rose Garden which is one of the largest in Asia with about 1,600 varieties of roses, evening dinner and stroll in the city centre, Night in hotel...

 

Day 12: Chandigarh to Rishikesh (230 m), 5 hours.
Departure toRishikesh-the sanctuary of saints and sadhus, situated on the banks of the river Ganges, known from medieval times as a great pilgrimage centre, attracting large numbers of pilgrims, saints and sages (sadhus). It is known for its centre for yoga and meditation. We will visit ashrams and temples and witness the evening ritual ceremony at Triveni Ghat, when hundreds of people float little flower bowls with oil lamps on the river, overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 13: Rishikesh to Haridwar, 23 kms.
Leave for Haridwar check into hotel. Visit Mansa Devi temple dedicated to Shakti, the goddess of power. Also visit Daksha Mahadevi temple and bathing ghats. In the evening, join the grand Arti, overnight stay at hotel in Haridwar.
Haridwar literally means gateway to God. It has been a sacred place from time immemorial and is one of the most important pilgrimage places on the Ganges. Based on Hindu mythology, millions of Hindus take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges to seek emancipation. There is meditation and worship at Har ki Pauri (Bathing Ghat) which is one of the most fascinating religious rituals in the world.

 

Day 14: Haridwar to Delhi by train, 240 kms.
Train to Delhi; visit Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid and Red Fort. Enjoy rickshaw ride between Jama Masjid and Red Fort. After dinner transfer to IGIA to board flight for onward destination, no hotel in Delhi.

Jama Masjid: built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan it is the largest Mosque in India, with a courtyard capable of holding 25000 devotees at a time. It took six years to build this grand Mosque construction was started in 1650 AD and was completed in 1656 AD.

Red Fort:Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, construction begun in 1639 and was completed after 9 years. The Red Fort was built as the fortified palace of Shahjahanabad, capital of the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Manali

On arrival Manali transfer to hotel. Day free, evening walk around local market.

Day 02: Full day Manali city Tour

After breakfast go for full day Manali sightseeing this includes “Vashisht Baths”, “Tibetan Temple” and Manu Temple.  Evening is free for shopping. You can shop at the Mall Road for handicrafts and leather items. Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 03: Manali Rohtang Pass Koksar Keylong- Depart Manali early in the morning our first halt is Marhi A barren landscape offering extensive views of the valley and the mountains. We proceed to Rohtang Pass 3790 M is most popular with visitors, being one of the highest road point and gateway to LAHAUL and SPITI valleys. Pass remains closed during winter due to heavy snow from November end to May end. Visitors can drive upto MARHI below ROHTANG with similar high altitude topography, forest of Birch, Fir and Spurce. Once we cross the Rohtang Pass border we are in the Barren Himalayas with the landscape completely changing Khoksar is the first village and gate way to Lahaul Night stay in Keylong. Overnight stay at the hotel       

 

Day 04: Keylong Darcha Jispa Sarchu- Keylong to Sarchu -Enroute -Darcha is situated at the junction of Yotche Nullah and the Zangskar chhu which takes off from the Shinkun la. Both these nullahs meet with the main river Bhaga at this place. The valley broadens out from Darcha. The altitude of Darcha is about 3500 m. which makes it an ideal base camp for acclimatization. Darcha is the jumping off point for treks to Padum over the Shinkun la or Baralacha la and Phirtse la and for treks or mountaineering expeditions to Leh and peaks of Chandra Bhaga series. However no tourist bungalow or rest house facilities are available on either side of the nullahs. A police check post is also there. Darcha is the last village where one can see sparse growth of trees. Beyond Darcha not even a single

tree can be seen on either side of the highway. Landscape starts looking desolate and absolutely barren. Glance at JISPA. This beautiful spot is 22 kms away from Keylong and 4 kms ahead of Ghemur. The village is situated at the junction of two nullahs with the main river Bhaga. Jispa has a very large dry river-bed, a rarity in Lahaul. Jispa is a new tourism centre coming up with the monasteries of Yarji and Photang where his Holiness the Dalai Lama gave the Kal Chakra sermon a few days back to the Buddhists all over the world. The mountaineering Institute of Manali has a sub centre here for adventure tourism. Sarchu is the last inhabited point in Himachal Pradesh on the Manali-Leh route- which is regarded as one of the highest highways in the world. Arrive in Sarchu and check into your Camp.  Overnight stay at the Camp      

 Day 05: Sarchu Nakeela Lachangla Pass More Plains and reach Leh- Sarchu to Leh:  Depart in the morning at dawn. Our journey through Nakeela & Lachlangla Pass 16,617 ft, Reach Pang by afternoon lunch breaks at Pang, enroute. More Plains (Biggest and Highest Plateau on Earth on Stretch of 42 Kms), Taglang La Pass (2nd Highest Motorable Road in the World at A Height of 17,585ft) & reaching Upshi, from here the road follows the Indus River, passing villages with their terraced Fields and neat- Whitewashed houses. On a way one notice the ruins have an ancient Fort or palace or the distant glimpse of gompa on a hill. And at last reaching Leh.Overnight stay at the camp  Day 06: Tour of Hemis, Thiksey Shey monastery 3 Idiots School Campus Sindhu DarshanAfter a leisurely breakfast, we drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45km west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. 3 Idiots School Campus Sindhu Darshan visit.  Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 07: Drive Sham Valley & Alchi -70kmAfter breakfast, Sightseeing of 1000 year old Alchi monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the Likir Monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here you'll be awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues., Indus & Zanskar river Sangam, drive along the Indus river visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), Basgo Palace Hiking only and further on to Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia).  Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 08: Tour of Khardungla Pass 18832 Ft. Nubra Valley and Hundur Sand Dunes  –  Drive 120 Kms 4/5hrs After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft) Arrive at Hundur by Afternoon. Rest of the day, Post lunch free to explore Deskit, Hunder Villages and camel Safari in Sand Dunes between Deskit and Hunder Village. Overnight stay at the camp

Day 001:- Leh

breakfast and a short briefing on the Motorcycle Tour & a short ride around leh, visit old fort, Shanti Stupa.

Day 02:- Leh - Shey - Thiksay - Hemis - Leh 115 km 5 hours
 Ride to visit the monasteries of Hemis, the largest monastery in Ladakh of drukpa lineage and Thikse, built on top, on rocky peak overlooking the village & in evening back to hotel.

Day 03:- Leh - Alchi - Spituk - Leh 125 km 5 hours
we’ll ride to visit one of the oldest monasteries of Ladakh – the Alchi Choskar Montastery, which is renowned for its architecture and ancient wall paintings. The monastery was built by the great Buddhist translator Lottsava Rinchen Zangpo. We’ll have lunch in the restaurant run by the monastery. After lunch we’ll stop to visit the Spituk monastery, it offers a magnificent view over the entire Indus valley. Then we head back to Leh.

Day 04:- Leh- Khardungla (5540m) Hunder in Nubra Valley 125km 7 hours
Uphill drive till pass, as it is the highest point one has to be careful of the altitude sickness however oxygen cylinder will be along with in the back up vehicle. Reach on the top of highest motor able pass in the world; enjoy the magnificent view of Himalaya, karakoram and Zanskar range. Continue to Diskit a district headquarter of Nubra valley; in Hunder enjoy camel ride.o/n in camp/hotel.

Day 05:- Hunder - Semur- Panamic - Hunder
Drive to Panamik, on the way visit Tirit village, a centre of handicrafts, wool and jewellery Continue to a large settlement at the bank of the Nubra ( Panamik), the hot sulpher spring water, have a bath, Visit the 250 years old Samour gompa. Back to Hunder.

Day 06:- Hunder- Wari la-Sakti -Leh190km, 7- 8 hours
Morning after breakfast, ride bike across Shyok River, picturesque valley and wonderful gorges and charming villages of Nubra valley and after crossing Wari-la pass (5250m) that provides spectacular view of wonderful landscape, karakoram range, Zanskar range and then by those short zigzag to reach the village Sakti. Ride down to Karu and 45 km to leh.

Day 07:- Leh to Chomoriri 4450m, 240 km 7-8 hours
Near Upshi we stop at a check post where you need to submit your permits. For the better part of today’s journey we follow the Indus River and the tarmac is in good condition for the most part, barring a few landslide prone stretches…

Chumathang itself has little to offer to a visitor apart from a few local roadside restaurants, a Gompa and hot water springs. A quick lunch stop would suffice for most, instead we make our own track, riding off road and following the numerous tracks left by passing vehicles. The last 30kms are a pain, but a boon for those who love off road riding! The track here is a mix of sand and dirt trails littered with small stones. However the view one gets at the end of it makes it all worth it, overnight on the bank of the Tso-mo-riri or Korzok village.

Day 08:- Tsomoriri to Tsokar. 90 km 4 hours
From Korzok we back track to the Junction of Tso-khar and from there take the diversion to reach Tso- Khar. This road tends to be a bit rough for some but great fun for those who appreciate off road motor biking!! It is believed that Tso- Kar was once connected to Tso- Mo-riri, even though TsoKar is a salt water lake while Tso Mo-riri is fresh water… The area surrounding Tso- Kar is protected and forms the Tso- Kar wild life sanctuary; we will camp here overnight on the banks of Tso-Khar, the salt water lake.

Day 09:- Tsokar to Leh. 154 km 5 hours
Today you ride on second highest motor able pass and after pass we are rapidly losing altitude and reach the first village of Ladakh, Rumtse. Riding through via carved colorful sharp edges mountains and beautiful villages we reach to Leh.

Day 10:- Leh
It’s a free day so you can rest, relax, shop, massage and eat or explore. And Drop to leh Airport on your time.

Day 03 Srinagar Sonamarg Kargil 7/8 Hrs drive 250 Kms..-Sonamarg - theMeadow of Gold Depart from Srinagar as per road opening timings.The drive to Sonamarg is another spectacular facet of country side in Kashmir in Sindh Valley. The Sindhu Valley is the largest tributary of the valley of Kashmir. Drive to Kargil the road passes through the panoramic village reach Sonamarg (2740 Mtrs). After Sonamarg most rough road and wet Zojila pass 3527 Mtrs (Gateway of Ladakh). After breakfast drive to Khardungla- world’s highest motorable road at 18832 feet above sea level. At Khardungla pass the snow capped peaks and the mountain views are amazing. In the afternoon we will visit Singhu point (Indus River where all the Singhes pay holy bath) and Stok Museum. The Stok palace and museum is around 200 years old. The palace and museum at Stok is a showpiece for the royal tankhas, royal crown, dresses, coins, precious stones and turquoise head dresses. Return back to the hotel for Dinner over Night at the Hotel in Leh.

 Day 05: Tour of Pangong Lake- It is the highest land locked lake (155 Kms on way from Leh 04 Hrs driver each way.  After an early breakfast we leave for Pangong Lake through Changla pass 5486 Mtrs. Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m). A long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometer at its widest point and over 130km long, it is bisected by the international border between India and China. A few years back the government decided to open it to tourists though the lake and its surrounding is under army surveillance. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable.  Drive back to Leh.  Overnight Night at the Hotel in Leh.

 Day 01: Arrive Leh; 3505 meters / 11567 feet.

Arrive Kushok Bakula airport Leh - 3500m above sea level. Transfer to hotel. Breakfast at the hotel before 09.30 am. Half Day at rest for acclimatization. After Lunch drive to Visit Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace, Later in the evening walk around local market. Overnight stay at the Hotel

 Day 02: Drive Sham Valley & Alchi -70km

After breakfast, Sightseeing of 1000 year old Alchi monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the Likir Monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here you'll be awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues., Indus & Zanskar river Sangam, drive along the Indus river visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), Basgo Palace Hiking only and further on to Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia)  Over Night stay at the Hotel

Day 03: Tour of Khardungla Pass (18380FT) & Stok

After breakfast drive to Khardungla- world’s highest motorable road at 18832 feet above sea level. At Khardungla pass the snow capped peaks and the mountain views are amazing. In the afternoon we will visit Sindhu point (Indus River where all the Singhes pay holy bath) and Stok Museum. The Stok palace and museum is around 200 years old. The palace and museum at Stok is a showpiece for the royal tankhas, royal crown, dresses, coins, precious stones and turquoise head dresses. Return back to the hotel for Dinner. Over Night stay at the Hotel.

 Day 04: Tour of Pangong Lake- It is the highest land locked lake (155 Kms on way from Leh 05 Hrs driver each way. After an early breakfast we leave for Pangong Lake through Changla pass 5486 Mtrs. Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m). A long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometer at its widest point and over 130km long, it is bisected by the international border between India and China. A few years back the government decided to open it to tourists though the lake and its surrounding is under army surveillance. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable.  Drive back to Leh. Over Night stay at the Hotel

 Day 05: Depart Leh

In the morning transfer to the airport to board the flight for your onward destination
